Ana María Coronel Loaiza heads the Criminal Law and Internal Investigations Department at Meythaler & Zambrano Abogados. Her career combines experience within Ecuador's criminal justice system with legal advice to companies and individuals in the private sector.

Her work has included reviewing documents and information, preparing reports to support decision-making, and coordinating interdisciplinary teams. She brings the team a practical understanding of how criminal justice institutions operate, including pretrial measures and the enforcement of sentences.

KEY ACTIVITIES
She has spoken at the Universidad Central del Ecuador on mechanisms to prevent violence against incarcerated women. She also spoke at the workshop "Building Capacity for Access to Justice" at the Universidad Autónoma de Chiriquí in Panama.
She has led training on preventing violence and discrimination against LGBTI+ people. She also helped organize the First International Congress on Prison Criminology, Criminal Psychology, and Public Safety.
Her publications include the Human Rights Manual for the Prison Context (first and second editions), the Prison Management Model, and the Regulations of the National Social Rehabilitation System.
